Financial Aid Checklist

Checklist 
Obtain PIN for FAFSA for Student
  • Student and/or
  • Parent
Complete FAFSA (http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/)
Use Federal School Code: 003329
Print a copy and keep a record of all information
Review SAR (Student Aid Report) and make corrections as needed
Receive and review Student Financial Award Notification from Penn State
Complete your registration by paying any balance owed on tuition bill by using eLion or the Bursar’s office

Important Dates 
FAFSA Available

January 1st
New students must complete FAFSA for maximum consideration

February 15th
Returning students must complete FAFSA for maximum consideration

April 15th
Pennsylvania State Aid (PHEAA) deadline

May 1st
 
Important Notes
In order to meet the eligibility requirements, you must:
  1. Complete the FAFSA each year
     
  2. Meet Penn State’s academic progress standards
     
  3. Not be in default or owe repayment
     
  4. Be enrolled in an eligible degree program
     
  5. Be enrolled at least half-time (6 credits undergraduate)
     
  6. Be registered for Selective Service (males 18-25)
     
  7. Be a citizen or eligible non-citizen with valid social security number
     
  8. Have a high school diploma, GED, or passing “ability to benefit” test result

Remember
  • Put PSU code 003329 on FAFSA
     
  • Submit all requested documentation
     
  • Keep copies of all documents
     
  • Student Aid Summary can be accessed on eLion
     
  • Pay your bills on time
